Chevy has officially pulled the wraps off the all-new 2027 Silverado 1500, and it's a much bigger update than just a facelift. The truck gets completely redesigned styling, a much more modern interior, and a pair of brand-new V8 engines.

One of the biggest changes is the front end. The new Silverado looks cleaner and more refined than the outgoing truck, with reshaped fenders, updated LED lighting, and a more traditional design that should appeal to a wider audience. Chevy also added animated headlights that greet you when you approach the truck, plus redesigned taillights and a cleaner-looking rear window. Most trims even come with dual exhaust tips now.

Chevy is keeping the Silverado lineup broad, offering seven trim levels along with multiple cab and bed configurations. Suspension updates that are supposed to improve ride quality across the board, although the truck still uses rear leaf springs instead of a coil-spring setup like what’s starting to be found on some of its competitors.
Under the hood, last year’s 2.7-liter turbo-four and 3.0-liter Duramax diesel stick around, but the old 5.3- and 6.2-liter V8s are gone. In their place are all-new 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter V8 engines. Chevy hasn't released horsepower or torque numbers yet but says the larger engine will be the strongest naturally aspirated V8 in the half-ton truck segment.

Inside, every Silverado now comes standard with a 12.2-inch digital gauge cluster and a 16.3-inch touchscreen, so you don't have to buy a high-end trim just to get the latest tech. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while upper trim levels add features like a passenger display, heads-up display, and panoramic sunroof.

Chevy also redesigned the center console to provide more storage and a usable work surface, while thankfully keeping physical knobs for the climate controls and audio system instead of moving everything to the touchscreen.
Off-road buyers still have plenty of choices. The Z71 package is now standard on four-wheel-drive models, while the Custom Trail Boss and Trail Boss still get a factory lift and 34-inch all-terrain tires. At the top of the lineup, the ZR2 continues as the most capable off-road model with 35-inch tires, Multimatic DSSV shocks, locking front and rear differentials, and an available Bison package loaded with even more trail-ready equipment.
Chevy is still holding back a few important details, including horsepower, towing capacity, payload ratings, and pricing. Those numbers are expected before the new Silverado reaches dealerships later this year. For now, though, it's clear Chevy made some major improvements to one of America's best-selling trucks.
