It was a top ten night for SoCal SuperTrucks backed Team Rocky Mountain ATV/MC at SLC 4, round 14 of the 2020 Monster Energy Supercross Series. Team riders Blake Baggett and Benny Bloss were on the throttle, with Blake finishing 4th and Benny getting a 10th place finish.
Blake Baggett was riding ast and smooth during the final practice session, earning the fastest qualifying time of the day. He kept the speed during his heat race as he lead the field down the start straight and round the first turn in 2nd place. He ended up in a battle for 2nd with Eli Tomac, and the two swapped places before Blake fell back to 3rd. Before the clock ran out he made a last-lap pass on Martin Davalos to take the checkered flag in 2nd place. In the main event, Blake timed the gate perfectly to round the first turn inside the top three. He held onto 3rd place until he slid back to 4th place. He then passed Ken Roczen to retake 3rd place at the midpoint of the race. Then Blake found himself under attack again from Eli Tomac in the last few laps of the race. Both exchanged positions before Eli Tomac overtook 3rd place, but Blake still crossed the finish line in 4th.
“Today’s race was much better. My speed was there all day and I felt good battling inside the top three in both the heat and the main. We made a few adjustments on the bike and it has helped tremendously. We will keep this momentum going into Sunday’s race." --Blake Baggett
